Turning Words into Books & Books into Bread since 2004

Parson's Porch & Book Publishing is a book publishing company with a double focus.  We focus on the needs of creative writers who need a professional publisher to turn their words into books, & we also focus on the needs of others by turning their books into bread by sharing our profits with those who are homeless and displaced by meeting their basic needs of food, clothing, shelter and safety.

I would wager that you have never seen such a title in a book, church bulletin or heard a message with such a title.  Don’t get me wrong.  I am not going to take your time to debate the whether or not our Lord would do such.  I am reminded of the pastor who invited children to the front of the church one Sunday for children’s time and he had a squirrel in a cage. He asked the children if it reminded them of anything. One little girl raised her hand and said, “Jesus.” When the pastor asked her how the squirrel reminded her of Jesus, she replied, “Well, he doesn’t, but I don’t think you got us to come all the way to the front of the church to talk about squirrels!”

So, I didn’t write this book only to talk about motorcycles & whether or not Jesus might ride one.  Rather, I use the title in an effort to communicate a number of things to you which, I hope, most already know.  First, to the person who thinks sin is necessary to enjoy life, that is a lie.  I think some people have given up on faith and the church because they met many Christians who were not particularly happy or who were simply boring.  Sin isn’t necessary to enjoy life and whoever thinks, believes, or says that doesn’t know what they are talking about.  When Jesus said, “I come that you might have life and have it more abundantly,” he struck a blow for those who are Christians and like to laugh.
